6 tips to extend the lifespan of your clothes
Here are 6 quick tips to maintain, care for, and better protect your clothing items, ensuring their long lifespan and allowing you to make fewer repurchases - to the delight of both your wallet and the climate.
1. Wash with care
Excessive, incorrect, or too harsh washing can wear out the fabric and also cause the color of the clothes to fade faster. Therefore, always pay attention to the washing instructions on the garment and wash the clothes more gently than indicated in the instructions. Also, remember to wash the clothes inside out so that color, embellishments, and prints are protected as much as possible. Be particularly careful with clothes made of delicate fabrics such as wool, silk, viscose, etc. In addition, only wash your clothes if they smell or are visibly dirty. It is not necessary to wash clothes every time you have worn them. Instead, hang the clothes on a hanger, preferably in fresh air or in steam from the bathroom.
2. Skip the dryer
The dryer is not always your friend - it damages the clothes and uses an enormous amount of energy. The heat from the dryer can cause the clothes to shrink and in the long run, it damages the fibers, causing your clothes to lose their shape. We therefore recommend that instead of using the dryer, you hang your clothes up after washing them. Your clothes will last longer, and you can reduce your electricity consumption.
3. Sort your clothes
To avoid damage to your clothes, we recommend that you pay attention to sorting your clothes correctly. Both sorting by color, to avoid color transfer onto lighter clothes, but also sorting clothes with zippers, Velcro, hooks, etc., which can get stuck and tear holes in other clothes. For delicate clothes, we recommend using a laundry bag that protects the clothes during washing.
4. Repair your clothes instead of throwing them away
If your clothes get damaged, try to repair them instead of throwing them away. It can be as simple as sewing a hole or a bigger project like changing a zipper. If you can't repair it yourself, find a tailor or a friend who can help you.

5. Store your clothes properly
Store your clothes in a way that prevents them from getting damaged. Hang your clothes on hangers or fold them and put them in a drawer. Avoid storing your clothes in damp or warm rooms, as there is a risk of them becoming moldy or deformed, making them unusable.
6. Choose quality over quantity
One of the most important things we can do to extend the lifespan of our clothes is to choose quality over quantity. Choose garments that you know you will love and appreciate, such as comfortable styles in comfortable materials or designs that can be used in multiple seasons.
